As part of the idea for anonymous piece working in reverse and creating work style first and then finding subjects to use with it I wanted to investigate ways of making them anonymous. The idea being that the subject is never actually revealed but their character, narrative and story is still able to. I am still trying to nail down subjects for this as it it a little like putting the cart before the horse but have put my feelers out and I am developing interesting relationships and connections.

Of course their are the traditional techniques of putting then in silhouette, blurring or pixelating faces, using disguises, cast shadows as well as changed voices using actors, filters etc aurally. However I wanted to consider what else may be possible. I had been collecting interesting images on pinterest and one technique that really grabbed me was double exposure. It allowed faces to be obscured but in a really interesting and visual way and I felt sure that the technique could be applied to moving images as well as static photographic ones.

To me this was a tripple whammy. Firstly it would obscure (if used to do that) the true identity of the subject. Secondly it would enable talking head to be used at the same time as GV's and linked images as an overlay over this therefore killing two birds with one stone. Lastly it would add a highly creative visual element to the work and give it a show in the arm. It was that holy grail of a techniques that was not going to be just used as a technique but one that served a real purpose and context.
Below are some more of the images i liked and which all acted as food for thought and inspiration. I will take this techniques forward now by seeing where it may have been used as I cannot recall it being used much certainly in documentaries and try to get my head around the technique and learn to use it and try it out.
